MAYFLOWER, AR -- Mayflower schools will reopen Tuesday morning, following that flu-like illness that made hundreds of students sick last week.
Custodial staff members disinfected the schools and closed them all Monday to kill the germs. It started at the elementary school, and last Thursday, more than two hundred fifty students stayed home sick.
The absences on Thursday and Friday did not count against the students' attendance record.
School officials say students and teachers had strep throat, high fever, pneumonia, and mono.
