Open up the Russellville Middle School yearbook. You'll see the students' pictures, the administration, and a pretty controversial list that's supposed to be covered with a piece of black tape.

"My problem is the tape can be removed easily," said School Board Member Chris Cloud. Cloud has two kids in the Russellville School District and one brought home the yearbook.

"I'm furious as a parent and as a board member and as a tax payer and as a resident of Russellville," he said. "It's wrong."

The list is titled "Top 5 worst people of all time." The top three, in order, are Adolph Hitler, Osama Bin Laden, and Charles Manson. Numbers four and five are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.

Superintendent Randall Williams calls the list "an oversight." Parents caught it after the yearbooks were printed. The district's solution was to cover the list with tape. It didn't work.

"Really?" said Williams when told the tape could be pulled off. "Well that's disappointing because the yearbook supplier told us this was a definite fix."

When asked if the yearbook sponsor, a paid teacher, thought that it was appropriate to include the list in the yearbook, Williams said no.

"I think it's just hard to explain, and I've talked to the sponsor and she is very very very upset about it. That she didn't pay any attention to that particular part of that particular page," he said. "I think she maybe just scanned the whole page and went on."

Williams says the yearbook editing process is under review. He won't comment on what's happening with the yearbook sponsor, saying he can't talk about disciplanary issues.

Maybe just maybe these middle school students really see what going on in this county. Maybe their parents our out of work or lost their homes, and all they hear from their parents is in fact all about the bush tax cuts and how they crippled the nation. Children are a little wiser now then we were.

Perhaps the students, especially the yearbook staff, at Russellville Middle School should be commended for their interest in current and recent events and their willingness to express their opinions, however controversial or unpopular. Sadly, the debate about this list figures to focus on finding out who was "responsible for the oversight" of publishing it, rather than a debate on its actual merits, which could serve to enlighten the community and the nation. By what criteria were Bush and Cheney chosen for their positions on the list? Is there inclusion justifiable on the evidence? Or not? Never mind whether or not the students should have said it - were they correct? How and why? As the Neville brothers said years ago, "It's freedom of speech, as long as you don't say too much...'

It doesn't matter what we think it had NO PLACE in a school yearbook. They should all be recalled at the expense of the person responsible. There's NO way these students had the knowledge or concern for this type of crap in their yearbooks.

@ sorrownomore "If people can say whatever they want about Obama people should be able to say whatever they want about Bush and Cheney and every other President and person of power before him." I believe in free speech as much as anyone - however, someone's opinion appearing in a school yearbook just seems wrong on so many levels. One of those being that it appears that the school is espousing said opinion. If my child brought home one of those yearbooks, I would take it back and ask for a refund. Obviously you have forgotten about the photos of Bush with a hitleresque mustache or the nic, Bushitler? Or the phots of a hanging Bush. It went a lot deeper than accusing opponents of being "anti-American.

If people can say whatever they want about Obama people should be able to say whatever they want about Bush and Cheney and every other President and person of power before him. Free speech is a two way street. Maybe some kids just really don't like Bush nor do they like Cheney. That's not called liberal indoctrination (which I notice is the excuse any time kids or college students get involved politically), that's called making up your own mind on the facts presented to you. I remember back in the day the really hardcore Bush supporters accused any who disagreed with him of being anti-American and I really hope it doesnt degenerate to that. I mean, people get away with comparing Obama to Adolf Hitler on a regular basis yet THIS is an issue?!

Melang he has a heck of a good propaganda manager doesn't he??? And a very uneducated public to feed it too. It starts in the schools. Just like Hitler. You can find the HISTORICAL truth but you have to search and study it. We better teach our children the TRUTH at home everyday! As Sharia law is well on it's way in this country. This alone should terrify every female in our country. Check it out and you will find states already moving in that direction. It's not the "Christians" you need to worry about. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!!

PART II of "Who Am I" country’s foreign policy… I was very critical of my country in the last war, and seized every opportunity to bash my country. But what launched my rise to national prominence were my views on the country’s economy. I pretended to have a really good plan on how we could do better, and every poor person would be fed and housed for free. I knew which group was responsible for getting us into this mess. It was the free market, banks and corporations. I decided to start making citizens hate them and, if they became envious of others who did well, the plan was clinched tight. I called mine “A People’s Campaign”. That sounded good to all people. I was the surprise candidate because I emerged from outside the traditional path of politics and was able to gain widespread popular support. I knew that, if I merely offered the people ‘hope’, together we could change our country and the world. So, I started to make my speeches sound like they were on behalf of the downtrodden, poor, ignorant to include “persecuted minorities”. My true views were not widely known and I kept them unknown, until after I became my nation’s leader. I had to carefully guard reality, as anybody could have easily found out what I really believed, if they had simply read my writings and examined those people I associated with. I’m glad they didn’t. Then I became the most powerful man in the world. And the world learned the truth. Who am I? ADOLF HITLER Now, if only they would take the time to explore the relativity of this to Barack Obama then perhaps they would find the space to think more in terms of this man and not our former president, who was legitimately elected because he was a native son.

One final note: as to the list here's some food for thought: Should any of those middle-schoolers desire a real wake-up call, read the following and then make anew your “list”: WHO AM I? I was born in one country, raised in another. My father was born in another country. I was not his only child. He fathered several children with numerous women. I became very close to my mother, as my father showed no interest in me. My mother died at an early age from cancer. Although my father deserted me and my mother raised me, I later wrote a book idolising my father not my mother. Later in life, questions arose over my real name. My birth records were sketchy. No one was able to produce a legitimate, reliable birth certificate. I grew up practising one faith but converted to Christianity, as it was widely accepted in my new country, but I practised non-traditional beliefs and didn’t follow Christianity, except in the public eye under scrutiny. I worked and lived among lower-class people as a young adult, disguising myself as someone who really cared about them. That was before I decided it was time to get serious about my life. and I embarked on a new career. I wrote a book about my struggles growing up. It was clear to those who read my memoirs, that I had difficulties accepting that my father abandoned me as a child. I became active in local politics in my 30?s then, with help behind the scenes, I literally burst onto the scene as a candidate for national office in my 40s. They said I had a golden tongue and could talk anyone into anything. I had a virtually non-existent resume, little work history, and no experience in leading a single organisation. Yet I was a powerful speaker and citizens were drawn to me, as though I were a magnet and they were small roofing tacks. I drew incredibly large crowds during my public appearances. This bolstered my ego. At first, my political campaign focused on my count

For "pfudd": I found your entry to be very insightful, deeply meaningful, and of the finest calibre of what I like to see forthcoming from an observant and intelligent mind... one that has been educated not in the liberal marketplace some are still calling a classroom, but in the everyday experiences that life brings to our attention. The key to your amazingly analytical commentary is that you've encapsulated real historical fact, negated the diatribe of some foolish enough to believe what mainstream media has blindside others (and to promulgate those ideas as their own, no less), and drew the conclusion about what the negativity means in terms of legal consequence in regard to "libelous conduct against our former President and Vice President." A final thought is that you did not fail to mention that all of what so many continue to rail at those two are currently the present-day's policy, as decreed by an illegitimate occupier of our Oval Office-NOTE: Those portenders of evil and doom always fail to mention the O name in any detrimental way as he carries out his aggressive agendas to bring this country down. Thank you for your honest commentary.

“Their coursework is much more rigorous than most schools in the state” says a lot... Perhaps it tells the tale of some extra-curricular work that is not included in the state textbooks; say, some liberal educator’s drivel that shapes as it produces alternative lifestyles, philosophy, et al. “Also, students get most of their ideas from their parents, not their teachers.” Such naivete makes me wonder about something to think about.... like where do people get THAT idea. For "mothade69" Just think of what you’ve just said and then go and ask your children, “what did you learn in school today?” and see if you get an honest reply. (Those who are being propagandized are most often given the statutory recommendation to NOT discuss this with parents because they would only begin a family quarrel on a matter best left to your own critical thinking.... typically a brainwashing technique that seems to work with young minds.... much like the parent who never tells a youth to never speak to strangers... well, aren’t teachers virtual strangers in some of our schools? I recall reading a good many accounts of what is going on in our colleges and universities these days... events in which a student who honors God and so says of Him in their papers that the viewpoint being presented in the professor’s curriculum diametrically challenges or puts aside any viewpoint, any pre-disposition to challenge his material. They are summarily informed (ordered) to rewrite their paper and exclude their true thoughts and either accept the material as presented and limit their thoughts to constructive ideas about it or leave the course work with a failing mark on their record. How much more does one expect NOT to find these self-same tactics exerted upon those younger generations in their pursuit of an education sponsored by a liberal system of education.
