CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — Authorities say a missing 12-year-old boy apparently drowned in a central Arkansas pond after a thunderstorm hit the area.

The Log Cabin Democrat reports that authorities pulled Drake Walker's body from a pond in Conway on Saturday evening.

Authorities said rescue crews, family and friends were searching for Walker after he went missing while on a walk with a friend.

Conway Police Officer Sean Canady says the friend said he turned around and Walker was gone.

Arkansas Department of Emergency Management spokesman Tommy Jackson says he hasn't seen a report on Walker's death yet.
