Police say the investigation into what happened to 3-year-old Dominick Arceneaux shifts from a tragic accident to a possible abduction a week after the little boy's disappearance.

When Dominick Arceneaux disappeared February 10th from his home near Chidester, the lake behind his home became the center of the search. Investigators dragged the lake, dive teams went down and dogs scoured the shoreline. But six days later things have changed. "We're confident he's not in the lake. Is it possible? This is a large lake but there are very little currents. We've talked to a lot of experts. We believe the search we conducted, if he was in that water, we would have found him," says Thomas Browne with the FBI.

Now, according to Browne the focus shifts; they're strongly considering someone abducted Dominick.

The FBI is teaming up with the Center for Missing and Exploited Children, passing out fliers across Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana asking anyone who may have seen something suspicious to report it. "This could include someone who was visiting the area, someone who recently arrived in the White Oak area prior to last Tuesday or just somebody who left suddenly," says Browne.

They're questioning sex offenders within a 50 mile radius of Dominick's home and patrons of a bar close by.  They've had a few leads but investigators admit they have no idea what happened to Dominick, which is hard to tell his mother. "As far as she understands, she's still heartbroken she wants to be kept advised of everything that's going on," says Sheriff David Norwood of Ouachita County.

And with the public's help Sheriff Norwood prays they'll be able to deliver her some good news by bringing her son home safe.

Jennifer my heart goes out to your family and especially your sister, and no matter how imature some people choose to act on here my heart is in the right place. I will continue to pray for your family and the safe return of Dominick. I will follow up on his story on a different forum. You just know that you all are in our prayers.

You had my name on it so I took it as it was to my comment. I am not going to get negative about anything. On some sites people are saying things that are not even true and I can see where concernedmom was coming from. She probably is reading stuff on other sites and just repeating it. There are things about families on certain sites and things bashing the families and that is not the point. the point is a child is missing and we need to concentrate on finding him.

Hello, My name is Jennifer, I'm Dominicks Aunt his mothers sister! First of all i want to clear up some things. Someone asked why isnt Dominicks mothers side of the family doing anything to help! WE ARE DOING EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER TO HELP! I myself is at a local motel doing everything i can think of to help with internet/phone. I even went out & searched and saw nothing! Dominicks grandparents are in louisiana because they drove from louisiana to Arkansas the day they got the call only to be turned around by Sheriff David Norwood. There was an altercation between families but no reason to turn away the only family Dominick knew besides his mother! Personally i believe that if you come with intentions of helping find Dominick ..(COME ON) They are also doing everything possible to help find Dominick & spread the word NATION WIDE!They have set out donation jars for his reward. They have appeared on tv. Secondly instead of pointing fingers & asking irrevelant questions why isnt everyones focus on finding this baby! (My nephew) I have heard & read many of post about why Dominicks mother hasnt been on TV. I mean people unless you have walked in her shoes & been under the same circumstances she's in right now! I don't believe you have any right to point fingers or make comments! Yes i agree that a 3 year old baby should have never been outside by himself. but i can bet you that 99% of you have taken your eye off of your own child for everybit of 5 minutes. I mean come on people there are babies that come up missing everyday out of their own bedrooms! PLEASE PEOPLE INSTEAD OF FOCUSING ON WHY WHAT WHEN & WHERE! WHY DON'T YOU ALL GET ON YOUR KNEES & SAY A PRAYER FOR DOMINICK WESLEY ARCENEAUX! HE NEEDS US! IF noone really knows what happened to little Dominick, than only GOD himself knows what really happened. With GOD all things are possible so please continue your prayers for little Dominick! Thank you all so much for EVERYTHING! Jennifer Any questions please fee

Exactly what I'm talking about with the Side of the family that was asked to leave. TRUSEXYMOMA is pettiness. This shows you how exactly what I was talking about. That woman was just praying for the little boy to return and look at what happens.

concerned12345 - 2/17/2009 6:28 PM
I am a family member of dominick. They did not find him in the lake. It is going national tonight. We are still praying that we get him home safe. Thanks for all of the prayers.
