For the next few weeks, central Arkansas is turning into a big screen.  A new movie is underway in Benton where actors and film crews are taking over the streets.

The stars are shining bright in Benton. "We've got a great cast and we think it will be a great film," producer and director Harry Thomason said.

Thomason is most famous for TV shows like Designing Women, Hearts Afire and Evening Shade.

He couldn't resist filming The Hank Williams Story in Arkansas. "We would choose Arkansas for everything if we could," Thomason said.

He brought some big names with him, like Jesse James, who plays Hank Williams’ driver. "You've probably seen him in Flyboys and you've probably seen him in the Butterfly Effect," Thomason said.

Henry Thomas will be playing Hank Williams. "Henry Thomas, who was the little kid in ET and is a superb actor, and he was also in All the Pretty Horses with another Arkansans from this area, Billy Bob Thornton, who directed it."

The list goes on.  We caught the crew on their second day of filming the 1950's period movie.  Officers diverted traffic as downtown Benton got a taste of Hollywood.

"If you want to get the 50's era feeling, this is the place for it," Mayor Rick Holland said. "Of course this is not the first time. We’ve had movies shot in downtown Benton, including White Lightening and Sling Blade and now The Hank Williams Story, so were really excited they're here."

And in case you're looking for your big break, we've got good news — crews are looking for extras as they film over the next few weeks.  Just contact "The Agency Incorporated" in Little Rock at 501-374-6447.
