HOT SPRINGS, AR – A fire on Mt. Riante that has been burning for the last 4 days has burned at least 200 acres and is 75% contained. Tuesday, Black Hawk Helicopters equipped with 660 gallon buckets were on scene fighting the fire.
The Garland County Office of Emergency Management says each house threatened by the fire has a full crew standing by in fire threatens the home.
One of the problems fighting the fire, according to the OEM, are on-lookers parked along Hwy 7, south of Lake Hamilton, watching the fire and preventing emergency vehicle from moving around freely.
The Arkansas Forestry Commission says they fought 39 wildfires over the weekend that burned 758 acres. On Monday, they fought 23 wildfires.
All but 14 counties are under a burn ban and most of Arkansas is classified as being under “extreme” fire danger.
