New K9's Help Sheriff's Department Fight Crime

The Lonoke County Sheriff's Department added two new K( units.
LONOKE COUNTY, AR -- There are a couple of new K-9's helping to fight crime in Lonoke County.

The dogs help the Lonoke County Sheriff's Department track down drugs and offenders.

A non-profit organization paid for the dogs and while hunting down criminals is their day job, the K-9's serve another purpose.

Sgt. Keith Stiles said, "We really want our dogs to be community oriented with us and go to the schools and be petted by the kids."

The sheriff's department received around $16,000 in donations to purchase the two dogs.

They also receive donations to feed them.
