New Life at The Pines Mall

New owners took over the mall in 2012.
PINE BLUFF, AR - After a year under new ownership, leaders of The Pines Mall say things are looking up.

Since Houston-based RockStep Capital took over last year, seven new businesses have opened up in the mall.

The shopping center has seen many businesses leave over the past few years.

Many of the new stores are locally-owned.

Shoppers say they like what they see, and they hope it's a sign of more good things to come.

"Once this comes back, we have places for people to go and we're proud of our city, then we'll be able to be better," said Rhonda Givens, a regular shopper.

Leaders say the mall is about 40-percent occupied right now.

Owners are criss-crossing the country to get national retailers to come to the shopping center.
