New UAPB Chancellor Talks about Plans for School

Dr. Laurence Alexander began as chancellor on July 1.
PINE BLUFF, AR - The new chancellor of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff shares his plans to move the school forward.

Dr. Laurence Alexander said his administration will work closer with high schools across the state to recruit those students to UAPB.

He said they will rely on alumni to help them get students outside of the state.

He said his team will also seek new funding sources as contributions from the state diminish.

"I'm going to be personally involved in that effort and our development office will be heavily involved and so will athletics and other units on campus," Alexander said.

Alexander comes to UAPB from the University of Florida, where he spent more than two decades serving in various capacities.
