No rape charges in Bauxite Middle School investigation

BAUXITE, AR - -Saline County Sheriff's detectives say after a thorough investigation, they've determined no rape happened at Bauxite Middle School.

According to Lt. Mike Frost with the Saline County Sheriff's Office, the investigation is now in the hands of the Saline County Prosecutor to see if any possible other charges could be filed.

But the mother of a 13-year-old girl claims her daughter is not lying. Terry says the boy she claims raped her daughter needs to be held accountable. "It aggravates me. It makes me mad because they're covering something up. It happened. My daughter would not have told me it happened if it didn't happen."

Bauxite School District Superintendent Jared Williams says, a high tech security camera system is in place to make sure students are safe at school. "The safety and security of students is the most important charge we have on a daily basis." Williams says student's activities and movement is monitored at all times with as many resources as possible.

Lt. Frost confirms every effort is being done to protect children at school. "Students are safe there."

But Terry isn't convinced she can send her daughter back to Bauxite Middle School if the boy she claims raped her daughter is still walking the halls. "She isn't safe because he's still out there, and they have done nothing with him."

But Lt. Frost says that could change. Other charges could come out once the prosecuting attorney's office reviews the case. Still, that's no consolation for Terry or her daughter right now. "He needs to be charged for what he did to my daughter. I'm doing the very best I can to help my child and no one wants to help me."

Terry says she will keep fighting for justice for her daughter and plans to hire a lawyer. "The justice system doesn't protect our children, and I don't understand it."
