NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR – Police responded to a stabbing in North Little Rock that left one man dead Monday.
According to reports, around 6:15pm on September 24, officials from the North Little Rock Police Department responded to calls about a stabbing at 1118 N.H. Street in the Dixie Edition. When they arrived, police found 23-year-old Sidney Rufus suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Police say witnesses identified 19-year-old Devante Cooney as a suspect. Rufus was taken to Baptist Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Cooney was arrested and charged with first degree murder. During the interview, Cooney allegedly told the police he stabbed Rufus "for the purpose of a sacrifice."
The investigation is ongoing.
