HOT SPRINGS, AR – Damage to the track at Oaklawn last Saturday is been repaired and horse racing is set to resume Thursday.

Heavy rain cancelled racing last Saturday on Sunday. Oaklawn estimates that two inches of rain fell in a 30 minute period that washed out portions of the track, however, the damage was not as severe as previously thought.

Oaklawn will run four stakes this weekend starting with the $75,000 Pippin Stakes on Saturday. Sunday is the $60,000 American Beauty and the $60,000 Dixie Belle, originally scheduled for last Saturday.

Monday’s one-mile Smarty Jones will be the first opportunity for a local horse to earn points toward entry into the Kentucky Derby based on Churchill Down’s new eligibility rules.

First post is 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Sunday and 1 p.m.
