LITTLE ROCK, AR - Parents at St. Edwards school are busy and exhausted as they prepare for the weekend's carnival but for one mother, the work is a welcome distraction.

Leonor Garcia doesn't speak much english but you don't need her to talk to see the pain she's in today. One year ago, Garcia's oldest daughter, Patricia Guardado, disappeared on her way to class at UALR.

With a friend's help, Garcia explains what this one year anniversary is like for her family.

"Since this morning when she woke up it's been very hard on her behalf," translated Garcia's friend. "She's weak - but at the same time she's trying to get that strength by being here."

Fishermen found the college student's body in a Sweet Home pond five days after police say she disappeared from a Little Rock parking lot. Now signs posted in the lot warn drivers to park at their own risk but that's the biggest development here since the case went cold. Police have yet to find Guardado's killer.

"We know that it's not going to bring Paty back by finding whoever did this. It's not going to bring Paty back but it's going to bring us some relief."

As they wait, Paty's sister wears a yellow ribbon every day in remembrance hoping to bring attention to a case this family needs closed.

"Those guilty people that did this horrible thing to Paty - they need to pay."

Police ran out of leads soon after Guardado's body was found. The family is offering a $10,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to Guardado's killer.
