Pediatric Cancer Survivors Receive Scholarships at Arkansas Governor’s Mansion

Awards valued at $2,500 each.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - There were big honors this afternoon in Little Rock for a group of pediatric cancer survivors.

They were honored at the Governor's Mansion as they picked up scholarships valued at $2,500 each.

It was all part of the 16th annual CARTI Kids Dennis Jungmeyer Scholarship Awards ceremony.

Presented annually by the CARTI Foundation to pediatric cancer survivors, the CARTI Kids Dennis Jungmeyer Scholarship Awards are named in honor of Dennis Jungmeyer, a CARTI Foundation Board Member and prostate cancer survivor. Jungmeyer also took part in the award presentations.

The Jungmeyer Scholars of 2013 include 21 pediatric cancer survivors from: Batesville; Camden; Little Rock; Lockesburg; Malvern; Lonoke; Maumelle; Morrilton; Paragould; Rogers;  Searcy; Sherwood; Vilonia; Branson, MO; Columbia, MO; New Boston, TX; and Texarkana, TX.

Jungmeyer Scholar Stephanie Remsing, of Maumelle, spoke on behalf of the 2013 award recipients. Originally diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma at the age of 12, Remsing earned an Associate of Sciences degree from Pulaski Technical College last month and is set to begin studies this fall at the St. Vincent School of Radiologic Technology.
