Pilgrim's Pride to Halt Production in 60 Days

A poultry processing plant in Batesville will be halting production in 60 days.
BATESVILLE, AR -- A poultry processing plant in Batesville will be halting production in 60 days.

Larry Jones, Director of Independence County Economic Development, Inc. (ICED), says employees at Pilgrim's Pride have now officially been informed about the plant's closing.

Jones says they are working with the Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC) and Ozark Mountain Poultry in Rogers, who has shown interest in purchasing the Batesville plant, to ensure the maximum number of jobs are retained.

ICED, along with the county judge and quorum court, have approved an incentive package that aims to encourage any purchasing company to continue operations and rehire the workers at the facility.
