Pilot lands on highway after emergency

BARLING, Ark. (AP) — A small plane that took off from the Fort Smith airport has safely made an emergency landing in Crawford County.

Sheriff Ron Brown said Monday that the plane had a mechanical problem.

No one was hurt.

Fort Smith television station KHBS reports reports the aircraft landed on Arkansas 59 near Barling.

Arkansas State Police responded to the scene.
