Police Arrest Man Suspected of Killing 1-Year-Old in Newport

NEWPORT, Ark. -- Prosecutors have charged a man in the shooting death of a 1-year-old in Newport. 

According to KAIT, Robert Friar is facing capital murder charges in the death of Tacari Danielle Briggs.

Authorities say Friar fired several shots through a bedroom window, hitting Briggs and her mother, 21-year-old Delana Roddy early Wednesday morning.

Briggs died at a local hospital, but Roddy is expected to recover.
