LITTLE ROCK, AR – A man suspected in a carjacking Tuesday morning was arrested, but only after he fired several gunshots at officers who were looking for him, according to Little Rock Police.
Leo Darrough, Jr., 30, is suspected of a carjacking in the area of 17th and Woodrow. He is also suspected of attempting to car-jack two other victims in the same area on Tuesday. Police also say Darrough fired a gun after being kicked off a CATA Bus for causing a disturbance.
Around 4:45pm, officers were looking for Darrough near the St. John’s Apartments, on 5001 W. 65th Street, when they heard gunfire. Police say they saw Darrough in a wooded area nearby firing at them.
After Darrough ran out of bullets (police report he was “dry firing” his weapon) officers brought him down with a taser and arrested him.
Darrough will likely be charged with attempted capital murder, aggravated assault, and aggravated robbery.
Darrough was taken to the hospital after his arrest to be tested for possible drug use.
