According to reports, around 12:35 pm on September 11, Narcotics Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office and Ward Police Department received information someone was growing marijuana at #214 East 5th Street, Apt #1 in Lonoke.

Investigators went to the residence and found marijuana growing in a pot, along with other drug related paraphernalia. Police arrested the resident, 52-year-old Charles Eugene Hegarty Jr. for manufacturing a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.

Police say Hegarty told them that he signed the marijuana proposal.

This is so stupid. These bored as$ cops spent significant time and resources to deal with a guy that was growing a plant in a pot in his own home. I'm sure that while the cops were doing this, a meth head in the apartment next door was on the verge of blowing the whole complex up while cooking up crystal meth.

I have the right defense for this man.If any of you have bird feeders you will know that some of the seeds grow from the droppings. If the pot that had the plant in it was out side, any bird flying around Arkansas could be guilty of dropping that seed in that planter. Oh and by the way, ever noticed how much better food taste after burning a good sweet bowl? So I'm told...wink, wink!!!!!

I hope this man knows who is not his friend! I suppose that person feels really proud of themselfs. Karma! So petty! I wonder how many homes and cars were broken into during all that time.

Good posts, especially granny! These Lonoke pigs are just Barney Fife wannabe's, the whole county is known to be the Meth capital of Ark. and they bust a guy growing a little weed and run straight to the media to attempt to impress the public, not happening piggy piggies.

How many known meth labs did the cops drive by to get to this guys house? How many unregistered sex offenders did they see or drive by their houses? How many domestic assaults happened while the entire force of Mayberry PD was doing this "raid"? Have ya'll ever read the headline of a person high on weed running from cops, killing multiple people, raping kids, beating the hell out of someone, etc? Not likely to happen. Only thing a stoner is beating the hell out of is that bag of cheetos.

Well, he will go to trial, be found guilty and sent off to prison and occupy a bed that is needed for a more serious crime. The way I see it, he wasn't hurting a soul.
