Police: Man arrested for trying to cash in stolen lottery tickets

LITTLE ROCK, AR – A Stuttgart man is charged with 114 counts of lottery fraud after he was locked inside a Little Rock convenience store while trying to cash in stolen tickets, according to police.

Little Rock Police say Cedric Qualls, 21 of Stuttgart, was in the Mapco on West 12th Street with a large amount of lottery tickets, confirmed stolen in a commercial burglary in Stuttgart.

After his arrest, while being led to the patrol car, Qualls was able to escape the grasp of an officer and run away. Police used a hotel receipt found on the seat of a suspect vehicle at the Mapco to locate Qualls. The receipt was for Room 235, and when police arrived, Qualls (still handcuffed) and 3 others were in the room.

In addition to the lottery fraud, Qualls is charged with 114 counts of theft by receiving and one count of 3rd degree escape.

Qualls was arraigned in Little Rock District Court Tuesday morning where he plead not guilty to all charges. His bond was set at $25,000 and he will appear in court next on January 28.
