Police: Naked man dies after being handcuffed

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Police responded to disturbance on Izard Street where they say a man was in the street without clothes.

According to Sgt. Davis with the LRPD, four officers responded to 1416 Izard Street around 8:30pm Sunday night.

Sgt. Davis says the officers managed to get the man, identified as 34-year-old Booker T. Davis, inside the house and handcuff him after a scuffle. Shortly after he was handcuffed, police say the man stopped responding.

The man was taken to UAMS where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy and toxicology tests will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Officers say they had responded to several disturbance calls from the same location Saturday and Sunday.

Why ArkansasYankee did you [misspell] coroner on your other post? You also must be lonely as you seem to want to tell everyone your life history. Do I detect a note of paranoia in your posts? Just seems you put alot of yourself into your posts that has nothing to do with the story line. It is petty to knock someone for a [mispelled] word. Sad that we can't all be like you. Could we show some empathy for the families for those in the tragic stories atleast?

ArkansasYankee and Dude :"Yankee" has nothing to do with this story. But ArkansasYankee your kind need the police too. It is a well known fact that Ar. police make their own rules according to county. The "Good Ole Boy" and the "Blue Wall" are well entrenched in this state. Just look at who gets "paid leave" when finally caught and who doesn't. It gets harder and harder to tell the police from the criminals. GOD'S will has nothing to do with this. Justice is meted out by who you know, how much money you have and race. I'd be careful as to judging who is human garbage and who isn't. GOD'S judgements are far different than ours. Knowlege is not always TRUTH until understanding and WISDOM follow it.

Dude III; it appears we have gotten off topic. As others have said, we'll have to wait on the autopsy to find out how he died. Naked and in the streets; I agree with those that suggest he was on something; but we will not be sure until the coronor is done. My prayers go out to the family of this unfortunate individual; but perhaps it was God's will; and as some of you suggest ( those of you with no respect for the law, or anything else, including yourselves ) not the Police. As I said earlier, your kind NEED the Police; they keep those of us that respect order and the laws of the land from ridding our country of the human garbage that contaminates our country.

Dude III; you are wrong dude, I was born a Yankee ( Kansas ), and was educated in OK, AR, IL, through the first 12 grades ( and yes, I graduated high school ); went to college in AZ and AR. I have an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Computer Information Systems with an Option in Network Administration, with HONORS. I was also an Infrared Surveillance Repairman at Night Vision Lab in the US Army; an MOS far out of your reach it appears. I inherited some land here 22 years ago, so I choose to live here, it's my favorite state, with AZ being a close 2nd. Something else; I chose Yankee as part of my handle because I am a die hard New York Yankee fan, and have been since the early mid '60's, when Dad would take me to Chicago when the Yanks came to town. And for your info; there are several hundred people with my last name in a Civil War database; two thirds of which fought for the South. My ancestry includes 18 families living in New England prior to 1700, with one of those family's living in Plymouth Colony in 1623. My family fought for our freedom from the British Crown, and has fought in every war since ( and the French and Indian War prior to our Independence ); so I can call myself by whatever handle I wish, it is a free country after all. Reality? The reality is - you can't spell, or write worth a hoot; I'd be ashamed if I were you. Have you heard the old saying? Let people think you are stupid; instead of opening your mouth ( or in your case, using the keyboard ), and proving it. Later dude.

Dude III; your grammer is atrocious ( look it up ); and while you are at it, look up Arkansas Civil War history. North of Little Rock, most of the population was pro Union ( they didn't have plantations or slaves in the mountains ). It was the plantation and slave owners that held offices in the state government, and it was they that voted to join the Confederacy; so yes, there were, and are, Arkansas Yankee's. By the way, did you graduate from high school? Which one? They didn't do a very good job teaching you proper grammer and spelling, now did they!

Butch; I know a few people that have mental health issues also. No, they don't need to be in jail; UNLESS - they rob stores and banks, murder people, rape women, molest children, etc. Then they DO need to be in jail. And given the help they need there, not in some outpatient facility, so that they may continue their behavior. And what is "out of hand"? Was he endangering anyone? There are those that need to be locked up, and there are those that don't need to be locked up. It sounds like your brother is a contributing member of society; but is he a danger to society also?

How do any of you know the police "killed" him? Sounds like the repeated calls means there was a problem; perhaps drugs? Those of you that are uneducated; there are street drugs out there that give people excessive strength, and it requires several police officers to contain them. Also, his death could have been a result of possible drug abuse, and not police brutality as some of you suggest. I'm betting those of you that have negative comments about the police have some things in common. You don't work for the most part; you rely on government programs such as SNAP, HUD, and welfare; and you are more than likely users of illegal substances. Oh, and one more thing; you probably have problems with the police because you have been in trouble with the law on one or more occasions. And trust me, you NEED the police; because they protect you, the gangbangers, crack heads, and tweekers from Old West justice; the good, hard working, honest people in this country still outnumber the scumbags by a large margin; like I said, you NEED the police, believe you me!
