SEARCY, AR – Detectives in Searcy say they have ruled out homicide or foul play as possible causes of death for two people found early Sunday. That's one of the few answers in what police are calling an unusual death case.

Brittany Eacret with the Searcy Police Department says detectives are investigating the deaths of Aaron Sweet, 19, and his girlfriend of two weeks, Samantha Espy, 24.

"As far as we know they were healthy and young. We really just want to answer those questions of what happened to them," Eacret says.

Eacret says officers were called out to the Ridge Apartments at 2001 Quality Drive in Searcy early Sunday.

"It's pretty unusual,” Eacret says. “Normally we find some kind of evidence with drugs or a suicide note or anything. To find nothing is kind of an unusual case."

According to the police report, Sweet's mother Diane Collins discovered the two of them together on a bed, unresponsive, cold to the touch.

“Right now we're talking to the family members trying to figure out if there was anything going on with the adults themselves, anything they could have been involved in," Eacret says.

Both bodies were taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab but toxicology on what exactly in their system caused them to die could take several weeks to come back.

"We're hoping it can speed up because we want to give the family, close the chapter, and tell them what happened, and we want them to be able to move forward," Eacret says.

Friends of Aaron Sweet taking to his Facebook page, posting photos and memories of the young man lost, while many questions still surround the circumstances of his death.

Friends and family of Espy also began posting messages of condolence and support for her family on a memorial Facebook page Sunday.

Police say they have checked for possible carbon monoxide poisoning, no sign of any gas was found.

Tox screens will tell in time. Bless the families of these young people, and it's beyond sad to see people's futures cut off like this with no explanation to why.

Better get someone from the state or feds to investigate this, Searcy has not got anyone smart enough to do a decent job. May be a few on the take too.
