MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A Memphis Police officer was shot near the downtown area Thursday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, on the 500-block of Arrington Avenue. The officer, later identified as Willie Bryant with the Organized Crime Unit, was serving a warrant when he was shot. Bryant was transported to The MED where he is listed in critical condition.

good maybe the trigger happy cops will learn to stop killing innocent dogs, ive always said that someone else would get hurt, perhaps they will stop using their guns now, as cops are to trigger happy, it was only a matter of time, karma bites back....

I live right next door to Memphis, Tn. They have nothing but corruption in their police dept. They LOVE shooting pets also. This is a common occurrence. They are cowards. I do not regard this as a personal attack on anyone, just the truth nothing BUT the truth. Not a good place to live.

At least the dog is OK. Pat, I don't need cops to protect me or my property. I live in a stand your ground state with an expanded castle doctrine. I can defend myself thanks to the Second Amendment. Cops are union-thugs and donut-munchers. All PDs need disbanded

Butch, mea culpa....but GOOD cops put up with a heck of a lot and I have to believe that those always opposing them have been in trouble because they have no respect for authority. Critical remarks about cops in general are so juvenile. I listen to police dispatch and I don't see how in the world they keep their cool. To you cop haters....if we didn't have any cops, you could do your dirty work in peace, right.

If only the nation as a whole knew how epidemic the shooting of family pets really is. There are two links to videos on this petition that show why it is so important to get this information out. There is also a link to another excellent petition as well as one to the fb "meet the dogs" page about MANY dogs that have been shot needlessly. http://www.change.org/petitions/nbc-brian-williams-rock-center-please-do-a-full-story-on-pets-being-shot-by-law-enforcement

Cop mistakes partner for dog, this begs for more information. Think about it the cop that was shot had on a vest, yet the 'stray' bullet found an unprotected vital area to hit? I cannot help but wonder about these two cops, race, sexual orientation, religion, etc.
