Police urge former UCA chief of staff to turn himself in

CONWAY, AR - According to Prosecuting Attorney Cody Hiland, former UCA Chief of Staff Jack Gillean told prosecutors he'd turn himself in to the Faulkner County Jail today, after being charged with four felonies Friday.

"There's a serious issue there,” Hiland said. “Serious enough that it crossed over into criminal behavior, and that's what we're alleging, that criminal activity took place."

According to an affidavit, Gillean gave student Cameron stark keys to university buildings so stark could steal exams from his professors.

You read that right. Prosecutors say UCA's Chief of Staff helped a student break into buildings and cheat.

"If I get a B and they get an A, it's just not fair because I put in a lot of work and they just, you know, got a key and walked into a room and got their A." Student Jacob Partlow said.

So, assuming Gillean does not turn himself in - what happens next?

Hiland says he'll consider the full range of options tomorrow morning. One of those options is asking the U.S. Marshals Service to hunt Gillean down.

"If he's brought back into custody, then he'll be transported back up to Faulkner County," Hiland said.

Prosecutors granted Cameron Stark immunity in exchange for his testimony against Gillean. In addition to three felony counts of commercial burglary, Gillean also faces one felony count of fraudulent insurance acts and one misdemeanor account of issuing a false financial statement.

UCA administrators refused to comment on this story.
