At least 300,000 customers in the natural state are without power and crews with electric companies are scrambling to help. Entergy has nearly tripled the number of workers that are getting power restored. But it could be weeks before every one has power again.
Trees in Bee Branch are encased in ice and limbs are weighing down power lines. The power in the area went out Tuesday night and people are doing all they can to cope with the situation. When the power went out in Bee Branch, Linda Warner thought she'd have to close down the Citgo for the day but some truckers came to the rescue. They turned on their generators and ran power into the store.
Taking a look around town its no wonder the power is out. Trees and power lines are sagging under the weight of about 2 inches of ice-in some places the two are even fused together.
Petit Jean Electric has been working all day to try to get the power back on so that people here won't have to spend another night in the cold but with all the ice they have their work cut out for them.
Petit Jean Electric has about 20,000 customers without power in Van Buren and Searcy counties. Workers say with the number of poles they have down it could be days before they get power.
