good comments everyone. Don't concentrate too much on a plea deal. There won't be one. The judge merely mentioned it as a matter of form, nothing has changed in the prosecution of this case. The Cannady's have not publicly changed their stance on wanting Anne's killer (whoever a jury decides that is) to receive the most severe punishment possible. Don't look for prosecutors to offer Vance anything. If i hear different, FOX16 viewers and FOX16.com readers will be the first to know.

There is something strange going on about this case. With all the evidence regarding DNA that was reported it seems plea bargain would not be an option. He does not go to trial until 9/09 which, it also very strange. I have been going to school to get a B.A. in criminal justice and usually when there is sufficient evidence the possibility of a plea bargain is not an option. If you are a first offender and not for a crime of this nature. I know her family must be horrified. I pray they have the right person for the family sake because giving a person charged with his crime this option does not look good. I cannot wait to see the evidence for sure now because this is very strange. Also, he refused his mental evaluation. Most of the time in a case like this the lawyer would push the issue in order to defend his client properly. Everyone keeps talking about tax dollars, who cares as long as the person that did this is caught and convicted. Wall Street needs your comments not criminal investigations. The prisons and jails need money to take care of the inmates to keep society safe. We cannot kill people then we are just like them. We can beat them at their game so we do not need to join them. He will have a jury trial with 12 jurors so, for the sake of her family hopefully the evidence is DNA. The fact he was in her neighborhood is not enough to convict. They will need hard core indisputable evidence for a capital murder case.

There is something very strange going on regarding this case. I am in the criminal justice field and I know from experience when there is sufficient evidence a plea bargain is never even considered. I am starting to wonder did someone jump the gun. I pray for the sake of her family that this was not a rush to arrest. Also, the fact that he will not go to trial until 9/09 is also, strange. With DNA trial should be earlier than that for relief of her family. Unless, there are other possible suspects or was he with the suspect(s). I pray for the sake of Ann the truth is prevailed because no one can imagine the pain she felt or her family. I'm for the truth whether vance or not.

You can't plea down to a death penalty. This is called due process. Innocent until proven guilty. You wouldn't want it any other way if you stood accused.

You know speaking of tax dollars and bailouts I think a good stimulus to the economy would be to make inmates work to build our roads and do all those things that cost us tax payers millions and billions of dollars heck going to prison is basically a free pass if you ask me for these senseless crimes.

The man is a monster. Nobody said he came here everyday to stalk her. However, he is the only one that could leave his dna on her and all through the house. He did it to Anne and he did it to the lady in Mariana, he is guilty.

I like you weatherby. I most certainly have to agree with you on all counts. I think maybe we can count on the rape thing, when this scum bag goes into prison (way to good for it) he will most likely be taken care of by the population. cc333, Unfortantly our tax dollars are going to feed and keep a roff over his head. I think they should put his butt out with the rest of the dogs, and I am not talking about the prison population....I mean exactly that....DOGS. This piece of work is an animal and what do you do with animals when the are violent....YOU KILL THEM

This is really stupid if you ask me. The weired thing about this is that how come no one saw him when he was in the neighborhood. The other thing is why would he drive from Mariana to Little Rock everday to stock this women. I think that they should go back and look at the evidence.

death is to easy for him. He should be beaten with a blunt force object until his bones are exposed, raped with a baseball bat and left to die in a cell. Only when criminals are treated like criminals will crime stop!

I don't think he should be offered a plea (unless her parent's agree to it)it is the easy way out -or if a plea is offered by the prosecutor it should be the death penalty. Life without parole is way to good for him and I personally don't want my tax dollars supporting him for the rest of his life.
