LITTLE ROCK, AR - Sunday, hopeful shoe models auditioned at The Clear Channel Metroplex to earn a spot at the first Red Shoe Extravaganza.

It is a shoe fashion show that will raise money and awareness about childhood obesity. The Arkansas Medical Dental and Pharmaceutical Association is throwing the event.

"We look for length. You need presence. In a show like this, we want the tall girls," says producer Lena Ross.

Sunday, the show's producer searched for shoe models, like Devin Dickson, a senior medical student at UAMS, who is involved with AMPDA and wants to give modeling a shot.

"I guess shoe shopping for me is what hunting does for some people. It's finding that perfect fit. That elusive shoe that will go with that one dress that you don't have a shoe for," says Dickson.

Iesha James is looking to get back into modeling.

"I want to be a super model, but I'm kind of thick. I'm kind of in between a plus size model and a super model, so it's kind of hard for me to get into the right size," says James.

And, Eboni Thompson used to model for UCA.

"I have a career already, so modeling probably won't be my calling, but I love to do it," says Thompson.

Decandria Butler works at the Little Rock Job Corps Center by day and custom designs shoes in her free time. Sunday, Butler helped judge the auditions.

"I kind of messed my shoes up one day, it was raining. It was a suede pump, and it kind of got messed up in the rain, so I figured okay. I spent a lot of money on this shoe, so I didn't want to throw the shoe away. So let me figure out a way I can revamp," says Butler.

The ladies will take the stage next month for the show, and if they have what it takes, they could land a new career.

"You most certainly can come out of Little Rock and make a career out of modeling. It's all about how much you put back into it," says Ross.

I wonder how many of these "models" we'll see strutting their stuff at the LIHEAP event?
