Pulaski County Deputies Report Successful Drug Take Back

This is the 6th year for the event.

LITTLE ROCK, AR-- The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office reports a successful National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

This is the 6th year for the event.

Deputies were at five locations across Central Arkansas.

PCSO collected 843.2 pounds of returned prescription drugs.  All collected items will be destroyed in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. 

Deputies say removing old and expired drugs helps prevent abuse and overdose by children and adults.  The water supply and landfills benefit as well because they are not contaminated by improper drug disposal.

Since the Sheriff’s Office began participating in the Rx drug take back program, they have collected well over 2,000 pounds of drugs.

Here is a look at Previous National Rx Drug Take Back Results:

·September 25, 2010 - 129.0 pounds

·April 30, 2011 - 267.8 pounds

·October 29, 2011 - 128.4 pounds

·April 28, 2012 - 397.0 pounds

·September 29, 2012 - 324.3 pounds

·April 27, 2013- 843.2 pounds
