It’s the biggest meth bust in more than a year for Pulaski County. Wednesday night, two people are behind bars for allegedly running a meth lab in Pulaski County. Now, the meth lab is shut down.
Sheriff's deputies went to the home on Driskell Drive for a routine check of a parolee, but instead, they found one of the biggest meth labs they've seen in a long time.
Once inside they realized immediately there was a meth lab. Two people were arrested and neighbors couldn't be happier.
Don Whiddon, a concerned neighbor, says, "We’ve had problems with this house for years, we’ve suspected drugs."
And that's just the tip of the ice berg, according to Whiddon. Whether it's a run down trailer, abandoned cars or just trash in the ground, he says the area has been pulling his property value down for years.
Don Whiddon says, "Actually they scared me. I was afraid of them. People would say 'why don't you approach them about the property?' I would say I’m afraid to."
Authorities say he had reason to worry. Under the floor boards in the front of the home deputies found a working meth lab that was giving off a very potent smell.
Lt. Jim Dixon, with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, describes the disgusting aroma, "It was strong enough to knock you down."
Through a hinged, trap door in a closet in the back bedroom, investigators found jars of liquid meth oil. Dixon says, "You could gain access to underneath the house. When deputies went under there they found several bi-layers of liquid methamphetamine oil and other products used to manufacture meth."
Tonight the woman who was on parole and living in the home, Angel Kowalski is arrested. So was the man living in a trailer on the property next door, Thomas Forester. They are both charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and possession with intent to deliver.
Whiddon says, "Hopefully another meth lab is down the toilet. That is the nastiest stuff. Killing people and ruining lives, and that's one less, and I’m so joyful."
Authorities tell us they busted another meth lab on the property a year ago.
