LITTLE ROCK, AR – In a 10-5 vote, the Pulaski County Quorum Court approved contributing $20 million towards the construction of the Broadway Bridge.

The bridge will be named "America's Bridge" and will have a new look honoring military veterans.

The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department agreed to build a new basic bridge to replace the current one built decades ago and in need of repair at the cost of $59 million.

The court meeting Thursday night for the bridge vote was specially called by County Judge Buddy Villines. At the last Quorum Court meeting, the topic was tabled after hours of discussion and no decision was made. Villines was notified by the director of the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department that a vote had to happen immediately or risk the loss of federal funding for the bridge.

The court's decision came after two hours of public comment, most of which was against spending the extra taxpayer money.

Wake up all, the extra 20 million is to provide a better looking home for the out of work and homeless vets to sleep under. All for one man's inflated ego.

Yes...I agree....Build a home for the Vets....Build a home for them. Then...If u have a budget to build a bridge...Go for it....

First off. What's the point of them even building another jail?? They're gonna let the punks off on probation, give them a slap on the wrist, give them community service. If thugs would have to serve longer sentences...we wouldn't have to see as much evil trash happening. We wouldn't need bigger jails, bigger prisons. If they actually had to work for their bologna sandwich in prison and tiny cell to sleep in and powder toothpaste...lol...They might think about just never going back. Make like tough on them in jail, prison. Make them never want to go back. You can't abuse them but....Make them never want to go back!_!

Where is that infrastructure money Osama vomits BS about for projects like this? Guess he had to use it for the welfare to support his voters.

lets spend our money on another bridge instead of staffing our current jail or expanding it. no wonder the crime is getting worse.

THE FIRST THING WE NEED IS A LARGE SIMPLE BUILDING TO PUT EVERY POS THE POLICE CHECK OUT DAILY IN, SO OUR TOWN COULD BE CRIME FREE, INSTEAD OF HAVING A BRIDGE THAT LOOKS LIKE A FLAG WAVING. THE VETERAN'S HOME SHOULD BE IN THE MIX TOO. BOY, ARE OUR PRIORITIES MIXED UP IN THIS COUNTRY. APPEARANCES ARE EVERYTHING? IF THAT IS TRUE, WHY NOT REMODEL OUR TRAILER ON STILTS LIBRARY?
