The 16th annual Race for the Cure is this Saturday and organizers are spending every minute making sure that all the T's are crossed for this massive event.

"I am going to beat this, I know I am," said Kathy Hall.

Cancer survivor Kathy Hall, re-diagnosed with her second bout in March, is busy volunteering.

"I do this because I want to find a cure," said Hall.

Kathy Volunteers everyday except tomorrow when she'll be busy undergoing another chemo treatment.

Race Chair Ellen Kreth, an eight-year survivor, says thanks to volunteers like Ellen, they're in good shape. The rain, however, has slowed things down. "We haven't had as much traffic at the Race Space. We are a little behind but today we're really busy in here."

Ellen isn't worried about the race day weather.  "Oh it's not going to rain, it will be beautiful. It never rains. In 16 years, it was raining, it stopped, and rained the rest of the day."

The race starts at 2nd and Broadway. Right now 44,000 are registered, they're hoping 46,000 will race for the cure.

Thursday the Robinson fountain is pink and some banners are already going up, but Friday "we start putting everything together tomorrow evening. The barricades get set out overnight starting at 2am; it's an all night project for us," said Kreth.

"I'm not a statistic, I'm Kathy; I'm a fighter, winner, I'll beat this. I want there to come a day when no one has to take up this fight anymore," said Hall.

Organizers hope to raise $2 million dollars this year. 75 percent stays right here in Arkansas.
