The San Francisco Giants are scheduled to take on the St Louis Cardinals in Game 3 of the NLCS this afternoon, but the weather is unlikely to cooperate. A cold front advancing through Missouri this afternoon will fire off showers and thunderstorms around the St Louis area during the game. Showers are likely to be widely scattered as the first pitch is scheduled to be thrown shortly after 3 PM CDT. A high resolution computer forecast for the area at 3 PM shows mostly light showers developing over the area.

Rain chances will continue to increase during the late afternoon with storms becoming more likely by early evening. Some storms may become strong with heavy downpours, frequent lightning, gusty winds and possible hail. This high resolution model shows heavier storms around St Louis by 6 PM.

Given the high threat of rain and storms late this afternoon, rain delays are likely for this game.
