Sales tax fails in Searcy

Voters in Searcy headed to the polls to decide whether to impose a tax on prepared foods and hotels.  The A&P tax proposal failed by more than 200 votes. 

A lot of controversy surrounded this tax and prompted a lawsuit and there are reports of stolen campaign signs. 

An investigation is underway as to who tore down political signs against the tax.
