Saline County drug bust

A disturbance call lead to the arrest of 49-year-old Charles Casteel and 27-year-old Sarah Owens on drugs and weapons charges.
A Saline County bust lead to the arrest of 49-year-old Charles Casteel and 27-year-old Sarah Owens at a home on Lucinda Lane in the Sardis area after a neighbor called about a disturbance.

Investigators searched the home and found three ounces of ice, scales and baggies, prescription narcotic pills, $6,000 in cash and weapons, including a shotgun, rifle and 37mm grenade launcher.

The street value for the drugs alone is roughly $10,000.

“They were moving quite a bit of ice,” said an investigator. “There was some phase of operation, we found items consistent with manufacturing, so there was some phase of the operation being done there.”

Neighbors we talked to who didn't want to go on camera tell us they noticed quite a bit of traffic at the home.

"We took one coil out of that chain and somebody else will fill it in. This was a fairly good size, so yes, they'll be looking for others. It’s an ongoing battle."

Owens is charged with felony possession of a weapon and possession of controlled substance. Casteel’s charges are possession of meth with intent to manufacture, possession of meth with intent to deliver, simultaneous possession of firearms and drugs, possession of drug paraphanalia, maintaining a drug premise, and possession of prescriptions narcotics with intent to deliver.
