itsjustme you made a good point. butch you are on the money. i am proud to read the comments in this story and see that for the most part they are on topic and respectful. thank you to all commentors for that. white people get killed sometimes because they are white, they should investigate the hate crime element sometimes if it applies in those situations also. the kids should be expelled not because he is black and they were white but because you go to school to learn not terrorise people. they couldve injured the young man by doing that even killed him. if they were all white kids doing this to another white kid they should be expelled. touch my child like that and i will come and touch those kids and if the parents got something to say then we can do it also. expell them and maybe the parents will sit down and have a long conversation about racism and how it affects peoples lives. suspension is for lesser offenses this has to answered for.

Haven't been around the world. Only seen two of the seven seas, and only been across one of them. Only place I've lived outside the US is an AFB in the United Kingdom. Only other countries I've been to are Canada ( great fishng up there! ), and Mexico ( good beer and great food down there! ).

The "child could have died"? Was the noose tied to a tree? It was a prank, nothing more. An idiotic prank I must admit, but I don't think anyone's life was in danger. It was racist reporting. Hate crime? I don't think so. Just kids being dumba**'s. itsjustme is right about one other thing also; hate crimes are only committed by whites; why are blacks exempt from being charged with hate crimes? Kind of makes you wonder does it not? And I could care less about your opinion on my new word. By the way, why didn't you take me up on my invitation to the memorial at the USS Razorback? Was it that yellow streak down your back that prevented you from serving? Or was it because you can't swim?

The "two white boys" have been kicked out of school for doing this to "a black student". THAT in itself is racist reporting. Why should this be a hate crime? But when a black person robs/assaults/murders a white person, its just a crime, not a hate crime? Is it a common standard that white people can not be victims of hate crimes or descrimination, or is it only blacks? This kind of bullshat is whats wrong in todays world.

I could care less about the race of either of these students. This was a hate crime and should be treated as such. The 2 students that committed these actions should've been expelled from school period. Anything could have happened and that young man could have lost his life at the age of 14. That school district needs to send a resounding message saying that this will not be tolerated; IT SHOULD NOT BE SWEPT UNDER THE RUG!!!!! That young man will be scarred for the rest of his life. I’m almost certain he’ll need counseling/therapy. You all are poking at each other about race, when this CHILD could have DIED. WHY HAVE I NOT HEARD MORE ON THIS ISSUE FROM THE NEWS, HAS IT BEEN RESOLVED? Fox 16, do you have any additional information, any updates, anything, besides this snippet of a news story. Quite frankly, I’m appalled at the lack of coverage and at the comments posted here concerning the story.
