LITTLE ROCK, AR - Pulaski Heights Middle School will be open Monday after more than a hundred students came down with a stomach illness Friday.

The school send the following statement to parents Sunday evening:

"The health department continues to investigate the cause of the illness; however, they do not recommend that we close the school. They have recommended the following actions and we have complied:
  • Thoroughly cleaned surfaces at school including bathrooms, water fountains, cafeteria, door knobs and other high-contact areas
  • Hired a company that specializes in eliminating and preventing the spread of pathogens/germs – the company spent two days on campus, using EPA-registered, eco-friendly, biodegradable products to further sanitize the school
  • Thoroughly cleaned and sanitized buses that serve Pulaski Heights students before their return to service Monday morning
While school will be open Monday, doctors remind parents not to send their child to school if he or she is sick, and urge safe hygiene practices which include hand-washing."
