Sheriff: 17yo girl admits to triple murder

A 17-year-old girl has been arrested in connection with the murders of a Redwater, TX mother and her two children.

TEXARKANA, TX - A 17-year-old girl has been arrested in connection with the murders of a Redwater, TX mother and her two children.

Amanda Prewett Doss, 34, and her children, 8-year-old Texas Johnson and 11-year-old Guinevere Doss, were killed May 11 in their home outside of Redwater. The home was set on fire and investigators believe it was burned to destroy evidence.

Bowie County Sheriff James Prince says he received a call Friday night from a woman who said she know who killed Doss and her children and asked to meet him in the parking lot of a Bowie County business. He says that when he arrived the 17-year-old surrendered and admitted to committing the crime when she was 16.

According to Sheriff Prince, the suspect was well-known to the victims and considered to be a friend. The motive from the crime and exactly how it was committed are not yet being released by authorities.

The suspect is being held in a juvenile facility. Sheriff Prince expects the suspect to be certified and charged as an adult.
