The rising waters broke loose a portion of the marina from the Maumelle area. The docks and several boats floated down the Arkansas River until they became lodged under the I-430 bridge. There were people in at least one of the boats at the time but everyone was able to escape without injury.

David Goins will have more on this story in the 5PM and 9PM newscasts.

A State of Emergency has been declared in Saline County by Office ofEmergency Management Director Terrell Burks. Lt. Scott Courtney, withthe Saline County Sheriff Department, tells FOX16 News, "People need tostay home; we have many county roads flooded."

Temperatures will stay in the 50's Thursday until a cold front pushes through the state, causing temperatures to tumble into the 40's during the afternoon. Rainfall will continue throughout the day.

As cold air takes over into Thursday night, the rain will change to snow in Northwest Arkansas, where several inches could add up in Fayetteville.  In Central Arkansas a rain/snow mix is likely Thursday night, with only a dusting of snow AT BEST, mainly on grassy surfaces. Roadways should remain wet, and not icy.

By Christmas Day just a few flurries or light snow showers are possible in Northern Arkansas.  The rest of the state will be dry and cold, with highs only in the upper 30s and lower 40s.

I-30 Closed

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — A state highway official says Interstate 30south of Little Rock has been closed because of flooding from streamsfilled to overflowing by two days of heavy rain.

Randy Ort, aspokesman for the state Highway and Transportation Department, saidboth eastbound and westbound lanes of I-30 were closed near thePulaski-Saline county line after water overflowing from Fourche Creekand its tributaries covered the highway.

A major problem, Ortsaid, is what would normally be an alternate route for that traffic,Arkansas Highway 5, is also covered with water and closed, bringingmost northeast-southwest traffic in the area to a halt.
