BENTON, AR – A central Arkansas sheriff’s deputy is relieved of duty after being arrested by his own department. Paperwork for the arrest indicates he faces charges of theft and prescription drug possession without a prescription.

Lieutenant Scott Courtney with the Saline County Sheriff’s Office tells us Deputy Paul Babbitt was arrested after an investigation by the Saline County Criminal Investigation Division. Babbitt was taken into custody without incident, booked, then released.

Deputy Babbitt has been relieved of duty and placed on administrative leave pending a decision by the Sheriff.

The investigation began after an Alexander resident reported a theft at his home.

thug, hoodlum, methbilly, now he gets to go to prison to visit his father(if he is still a he) may be his mother now. these cockroaches are everywhere, they need to be quarantined!!! wow these county is bad everyone should move to the different areas so these deadbeat losers dont have an affect on them.

If he stole them because of an addiction, then there is no telling what he would do to get them. If he stole them to sell, then he has become as corrupt and dangerous as the drug cartels who bring in cocaine and meth. Just goes to show you that any one can become addicted to drugs or be corrupted by the money from drugs. Our prohibition policies are a failure and a joke. They treat a health issue as a crime and promote corruption.

LOL thank you Fox16 you just made my day. Too bad in the end nothing will happen to him. Just like the female cop who shot the unarmed guy. Buried gone forgotten about. Think Saline county is bad come on over to Conway County.There so bad over there That large meth bust last week. Conway county had 2 losers (protected losers may I add) In that bust and the DEA didnt even let Conway County know what was going on till it was over.

lol i told you so saline county nothing but crooks an its left up to the high an mighty pennington to judge him one of his boys as bad as these guys the benton city police make them look like chior boys this is a county with no real law an tell me what happeed with the female cop who shot the supect in head while searching him thats been buried hope people will forget come on mr proscuter do your job or will you fix this just like you do all the cases of your friends an brothr cops
