NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR – A shooting suspect was taken to the hospital after leading deputies and police on a high speed chase through North Little Rock.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office says Tony Kiehl, 39, was shot in the upper chest and arm Thursday afternoon at 2109 Batesville Pike Road. The sheriff’s office responded to the shooting around 4:30pm. They say the suspect, 22-year-old Gabriel Jaquez had left the scene with a shotgun in a stolen red Honda Civic.

Deputies and troopers with the Arkansas State Police chased the Civic, at times reaching 60mph, through North Little Rock and into the county on Highway 70. Using a pit maneuver, troopers were able to spin the Civic through a chain link fence into a parking lot, where it stopped after hitting a parked car.

Juaquez was taken into custody and a shotgun recovered from his car, according to the sheriff’s office. He was taken into custody and transported to Springhill Baptist.

Kiehl was taken to UAMS. His condition and Juaquez’ were not immediately known.

Kiehl and Juaquez knew each other, according to investigators, but a motive for the shooting is not known.

The sheriff’s office says the charges for Jaquez are pending the completion of the investigation.

I am the victim's sister. I have only been back at the house 3 times since my mother was killed. I am afraid to go over there. Don't even know 3/4ths the people that "hang out" there. Yes, I am VERY worried about my baby brother, NO, I do not approve of the lifestyle that ANY of them live. I hope rather than name calling and hate, you will join me in praying that they will ALL see their need for Christ, change is hard and I've heard that the addiction to drugs are very hard to rise above. But I also know that with God's help it IS possible. I pray the police will be able to clear that house of any and all that frequent there, before another tragedy occurs. I am praying for my brother, Tony, that God will be gracious and give hin another opportunity at naking the right choices in life. Please join me in that prayer.

If someone comes at me with a gun/knife or whatever, I'll shoot them and I'm not going to make sure they arent at point blank range.

Nobody deserves to be shot at point blank range? This thug shot someone. He is a repeat offender. He was in a stolen car. He led police on a high speed chase, endangering the lives of many others. Put him in front of a firing squad, and shoot him at point blank range! Problem solved.

itsjustme-I never said anywhere that the suspect was/is a good person as I do not know the suspect! I know the shooting victim and have for a very long time! But the point is that none of us were there to know what the motive behind this was! My point is so many people are quick to judge others without knowing the facts. There is not one perfect person in this world and everyone has made mistakes, but nobody deserves to get shot at point blank range.

justcurious, let me say this. "Good people", as you put it, do not run from the police. Thought I'd throw that out there. And if this was such a "good person", why were they seen leaving a known drug house, had shotgun in his car, then decide to run from the law? Oh wait. Maybe he was on a self mission to eradicate the drug house with the shotgun. He got shot because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. If he was a "good person", his ass wouldnt have been there to begin with. And I have had members of my family mixed up in the wrong company and they got hurt, and one got killed. Did it anger me that he was killed over less than $50 worth of dope? Nope. It angered me that he was dumb enough to get involved with it in the first place. If he had been doing the right thing, maybe he would be here today. That was his choice, not mine. Am I sorry he is gone? Everyday. But again, I can only lead one life, mine. I'm not here to babysit anyone. The moral of this story is this. If you choose to lead a criminal lifestyle, be prepared to pay the ultimate price.

I find it amazing that when things like this happen, so many people are quick to judge and are so quick to attempt to make statements that have no truth to them! onMYsoapbox-Were you there when this happened? How do you know these people are not good people? Are you so perfect that you can judge others? Did not think so!! FoxyLady-How do you know it was a drug deal gone bad? Were you there too? You were so quick to judge that it was a drug deal gone bad without knowing anything else. Are you perfect too? The truth is there is a man that has been wounded by a senseless act and a family that once again faces a long hard road ahead. I sure hope that none of your families have to go through what this family is going through! Sometimes you should think about keeping your opinions to yourself until you know the rest of the story!

I agree jim. He is a repeat offender. This rest on our prosecutors head. To bad we can't charge him with giving aid to a felon. Maybe the people in that county will handle it better. When you go to vote next time remember this story.

This little punk has been arrested 4 times since 2010 just in Faulkner county, from non payment of fines, probation violations, and some type of felony. It is time to put him in Tucker, Cummins, Varner and not let him out. He has proven that he can not live in a law abiding society.
