State Rep. Nate Steel to Run for Attorney General

Steel is the first Democrat to throw his hat into the race.
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- An Arkansas lawmaker is announcing his plans to run for Attorney General.

Democratic State Representative Nate Steel kicked off his campaign Wednesday morning in his hometown of Nashville.

Steel is the first Democrat to throw his hat into the race.

He told supporters he's not one to shy away from difficult issues.

"I've never been one to back down from a fight. I've never forgotten who stood with me when I needed them and I'll always stand with my legislative colleagues and my members of law enforcement as the next AG time in and time out, and I won't always do what's popular, but I guarantee I'll always do what's right," Steel said.

On the Republican side, Leslie Rutledge and David Sterling will face a primary battle.

Current Attorney General Dustin McDaniel is term-limited.
