How safe is your neighborhood? A new report lists a Little Rock neighborhood among the top 25 most dangerous in the nation, but city officials say they question how accurate the study is.

Using FBI crime data from 2005 through 2007, a real estate website called neighborhoodscout.com ranks Roosevelt Rd. and Bond Street as the 15th most dangerous neighborhood in the country. Mayor Mark Stodola says he questions its validity of the report.

“It really is surprising because I have lived in Detroit," says resident Tramond Taylor.

Alicia El-Amin has lived in the area all of her life and says she does not see crime in her neighborhood. "No, not out here because everyone knows each other,” she said.

"It's just disappointing,” said Mayor Mark Stodola. "Their information that they put on here and how they've come to that conclusion is based on faulty extrapolations of numbers and locations geographically."

He points to Little Rock's reduction in crime, especially since the early 1990's when there were up to 29,000 crimes reported. "This is only the 4th year in the last 20 where we have had under 18,000 crimes reported to the FBI,” he said.

Stodola adds neighborhoodscout.com’s reference to Roosevelt and Bond is shocking since it's an industrial area. "You've got the Clinton Library, Heifer International here,” he says.

There’s also the Little Rock Airport, and the Aerospace Education Center.

"Obviously, they don't have the right neighborhood,” Stodola said. Residents feel the same.

"I've yet to see gang related activity up and down the street, no type of drugs or drug paraphernalia or anything like that,” Taylor added.

FOX16 left a message with a representative from neigbhorhoodscout.com to get their reaction to the mayor's comments. We're awaiting the company's response.

We did speak with other residents in the neighborhood who say they never fear for their safety. One person told FOX16 the biggest complaint she has is overgrown lots.

Neighborhoodscout.com says it compared a three year period to get more reliable data because it says one particular year might have unusually high or low crime trends. The company also says recent changes in a neighborhood may not be reflected in these findings.

The report analyzed neighborhoods near Roosevelt Rd. and Bond Street in Little Rock with zip codes 72202, 72206, and 72201. Neighborhoodscout.com says people in this area have a one in eight chance of being a victim of crime.
