Bryant Fire Dept Ask Voters To Approve Bond To Upgrade 2 Sub-Stations

The Bryant Fire Department wants voters to approve a bond to finance upgrades to two of its firefighting stations.
BRYANT, AR- The Bryant Fire Department is asking for your vote to help upgrade two of its fire sub-stations.

The department is asking voters to approve a $4.4 million dollar bond to finance the sub-stations.

In 2006, voters approved a safety tax rate of 0.375%. The money goes to firefighting facilities, equipment, parking, street, and utility improvements.

Bryant Fire Chief J.P. Jordan explains this bond would allow the department to access the money.

"It's important not just for today's fire department, but for the growth of Bryant. We're growing so fast and that's a blessing. So we need to be prepared, be proactive and not reactive," said Bryant Fire Chief J.P. Jordan.

Chief Jordan calls the current sub-stations outdated and says they don't meet the needs of the firefighters housed there.
