NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR – A man charged with capital murder in connection to the
shooting death of an EZ Mart Clerk apologized to the family Friday.
“I just wanted to say I’m sorry to the family. I didn’t mean to kill that lady,” said Jacobi Robinson.
29-year-old Akiya Egeston was shot to death Saturday night while she was working at the EZ Mart. Three men robbed the store at gun point. After leaving, one man came back inside and shot Egeston, killing her instantly.
Egeston's mother, Maria Currie, said Robinson's remarks are pathetic.
"Regardless if they got something from somebody, that’s still no reason to take nobody’s life," said Currie.
As police led him from the police station into a squad car, a contrite Robinson said he didn’t have a reason for the theft and shooting death and it wasn’t worth it.
“My life is gone.”
Robinson, 20, was arrested at his home at 1201 South Road #D in Jacksonville on Friday.
Also arrested in connection the murder is Davion Howard, 19. Howard was arrested in Texarkana and is currently being taken back to North Little Rock. Howard is also suspected in the
armed robbery of a Citgo gas station in Jacksonville on Sunday.
Warrants for capital murder and aggravated robbery are out for a third suspect, Maclin Rogers, 20. Rogers’ last know address is 1007 Wright St. in Jacksonville, according to police.
Currie said criminals should use their brains.
"The first thing they should think about is if I do this, what's going to happen after I get caught," said Currie.
