Two Little Rock men and one man from Arizona were in court on Monday after police say they arrested the three men for having almost 200 pounds of marijuana in their car, which they claimed they were transporting from Arizona to Little Rock.

Brandon Thurmond, 29 of Arizona, Mack Smith, 26 of Little Rock and Corey Jones, 29 of Little Rock appeared in a bond hearing on Monday after their arrest by the Arkansas State Police.

The three men appeared in the hearing facing the charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to an Arkansas State Police report, a trooper stopped a 2013 Toyota Sienna minivan at the 75 mile marker traveling eastbound on I-40. The trooper made contact with the occupants of the van identified as Thurmond, Smith and Jones and upon speaking to them the trooper stated in the report the van "reeked of a marijuana odor."

After the trooper learned the driver did not have a driver's license, the men were asked to exit the vehicle. The trooper asked for consent to search the van and after receiving consent, found 12 bales of marijuana wrapped in plastic wrap inside of several pieces of luggage. The luggage was stored in the cargo area of the van.

The men told the trooper they were delivering 150 pounds of marijuana to Little Rock from Arizona.

All three men were placed under arrest and transported to the Pope County Detention Center. The trooper also noted in the report that Smith had $2,153 in cash on him. The cash was confiscated from the suspect before he was transported.

It was later determined the men were in possession of 186 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $297,000.

Thurmond and Jones do not have prior felony convictions but Smith has two prior felony convictions and is currently on parole. He was released from prison on Dec. 14, 2012.

Judge Bourne issued Thurmond's bond for $50,000, Smith's bond for $75,000 and Jones' bond in the amount of $50,000. All three men will appear in circuit court on Oct. 7.
