Update: Thousands of Entergy customers were without power much of the day, but have it back, now.

BRYANT, AR – Thousands of Entergy customers are without power. David Lewis with Entergy says power is not expected to be restored until around 5:00pm, Sunday.

The Entergy outage website reports that almost seven thousand customers in Saline County are without service. The area affected is primarily in Bryant and Bauxite, but also includes Entergy customers outside of those two cities to the south and west.

Police officers are directing traffic at controlled intersections because there is no power for traffic lights. Restaurants and stores are also struggling with some closing their doors because of a lack of electricity.

David Lewis with Entergy tells us a tree fell on a transmission line serving the area. He says it is in an area that is very difficult to reach and officials are still unsure as to how long it will take to restore service.

Fox16 News is monitoring the situation and will provide updates as information becomes available. We will also have a complete report tonight on Fox16 News.
