Pine Bluff neighbors call for club to close

Sunday morning's shooting at Three Gables is the last straw for residents who want peace in Pine Bluff.
PINE BLUFF, AR -- Sunday morning's shooting at Three Gables is the last straw for residents who want peace in Pine Bluff.

"It's a common thing to talk about Three Gables," said Apostle Patrick Lockett of the New Community Baptist Church.

The club is just steps away from the New Community Baptist Church where Patrick Lockett serves as apostle.  He's joining neighbors to draft a proposal to keep the club's doors locked.

"Once things happen we pursue it and it kind of dies but I think we have to be on top of it," said Lockett.

Pine Bluff police tell us it started with a fight inside the club. Everybody ran out and Trammel Moore went to get a gun. Investigators say he fired shots that injured three people and killed Walter Ashley Jr.

"Trammel's caught. He just doesn't know it. Whether it's today, tomorrow or next week, it's best if he turns himself in so no one gets hurt," said Lt. Bob Rawlinson, public information officer for the Pine Bluff Police Dept.

But this isn't the first report of violence at the club. Last December, Alcohol Beverage Control placed the club on a year probation after a shooting and fight. The club owner paid a $1,000 fine.

This recent shooting could be another fine or closure, which Lockett wouldn't mind.

"You can look the other way for so long and casualties and keep on but it's just time," said Lockett.
