WYNNE, Ark. (AP) — The trial for the man charged with beating an 80-year-old woman to death with a brass cross inside a northeast Arkansas church opened with both prosecutors and defense attorneys telling the jury that there's no doubt the defendant is the killer.

While prosecutors are seeking the death penalty, an attorney for Rene Bourassa Jr. told the jury that the real question is why the killing happened.

Bourassa is charged with capital murder in the 2010 death of Lillian Wilson, who was found fatally beaten inside a Hamlin church. The Jonesboro Sun reports prosecutors played Bourassa's confession Monday for jurors.

In the videotape, Bourassa says he was agitated and taken aback when Wilson told him God loved him and would forgive him. He admits striking her repeatedly with the cross.

so we know he did it, his own lawyer says he did it. and now we are going to waste tax dollars haaving a trial to find out why he did it. does it matter why he did it. can there possibly be a good explanation for this? if he is illegal then kill him and ship his corpse back to mexico and if he is a citizen kill him and put dirt on him

sick, he deserves the death penalty. Better yet, send him back to Mexico and see what happens to him if he beats an old lady with a cross. He would have already been taken out to the streets and lynched.

It is getting so hard to turn on the tv and computer to read or watch the news anymore. These sick people in this world, and the legal system backs them up and in some case's as this allows them to migrate to this country. This man is mexican and born in Mexico, and I am not even sure if he is legal here and the news refuses to say if he is.
