Two Men Wounded, Suspect Jailed in Little Rock Apartment Shooting

Monday night incident happened at 1701 N. Hughes Street, just off Cantrell Road.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - Two men are recovering from wounds after being shot at an apartment complex.

It happened Monday night on the city's west side at 1701 N. Hughes Street, just south of Cantrell Road.

Police were called to the scene at the Park Heights Apartments just after 11:30.

That's where officers found the injured men, identified as Remy Heggs, 26, and Charles Forte, 23, both of Little Rock. Heggs suffered wounds to the stomach area and Forte was wounded in the thigh, according to the police report. No further information on their conditions has been released.

The suspect, who lived at the scene, is identified as Jordan Mitchell, 23. He stepped outside the apartment after repeated requests from police and was taken into custody without incident.

The police report noted that two other adults and four children were inside the apartment when the shooting took place.

The shooting happened after Forte punched Mitchell, the report said, and he fired 6 to 7 rounds at the victims from a pistol he pulled from his waistband.

Mitchell is charged with two counts of battery. He is being held on $50,000 bond.
