PINE BLUFF, AR – The Pine Bluff Police say two teenagers died when the Kia Rio they were driving in made a U-Turn in front of a tractor trailer at the I-530 US 65 interchange Thursday.

The driver, 18-year-old Sheldon Prater, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 19-year-old Jacques Williams, died in the hospital Friday morning. The driver of the truck was not injured.

According to the police, the tractor-trailer was driving southbound on US 65 after just exiting from I-530. Prater was driving southbound on the ramp for East Haring Avenue entering onto US 65 South. That is when Prater made a left hand U-Turn in front of the semi.

My sympathy to all involved; but - I was taught early on; LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP! That applies to U-turns also. charliebrown; I ride too, and you are so right - any moron can get a license to drive in AR; I see them everyday whether I'm in the F-250 or on the Harley. Like one T-shirt I seen a fellow rider wearing says - If you can't see me, then you don't need to be driving! This reminds me of an accident in Tucson many years ago. Four people on their way to work, in the same car, pulled out in front of a fully loaded dump truck. Never, ever, let a passenger tell you it's all clear; if you are driving, make sure it's clear yourself before pulling out!

Ditto to both previous posters...I drove for 15 yrs. and I tell everyone they MUST respect the big truck/driver. STAY AWAY FROM BIG TRUCKS. I believe most two vehicle wrecks with big trucks are caused by people driving cars/trucks....Many a big truck driver HAS DIED trying to keep from killing people because THEY made the mistake. God Bless

i owned a trucking company for 10 yrs...and now i'm on disabilty BECAUSE A CAR STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME TO TAKE PICTURES....i could have killed all 4 passengers.. but instincts tell you to avoid....now i have to pay for it since they drove off....now i ride a motorcycle and guess what...i still have to watch out for drivers of cars.....people need to take a test every 4 yrs to be able to keep your licenses....and i see the same people driving and texting and then cussing cause they almost hit the car in front of them...

You cannot stop these trucks like you can a car! I used to ride with my husband when he drove a semi...it takes a lot of power to stop them! Please respect them! My prayers go out to the families involved.. both from those who lost loved ones. And the driver of the truck and their family as well.
